It is a pleasure to announce the release of the new version of codoforum v4.8

Some highlights in this release:

Chat
We have been working on instant messenger feature - FreiChat; for past couple of months. We have now integrated it with codoforum, so you should now be able to see that at bottom right corner of this forum.

You can enable this feature from your forum by first upgrading the FreiChat plugin then enabling it in the Settings:

Docker
We have created a docker image for codoforum with all dependencies which installs itself automatically. So now with one single command you can install any version(>v4.7) of codoforum easily on your local or development setups.

Role colors
It is now possible to give unique styles to every role. We have added a new option in the backend under UI Elements -> Role colors

You can simply give the desired color or put your own styles in css for a given role:

New settings/configuration

You can switch between logo and site title and upload your logo for your site header.

You can now configure whether to use username or email or both for the login screen. This configuration is also applied for the admin login.

Codoforum had issues with cached css where icons were not loaded when you switched between http/https or www/without www. This has finally been fixed, and now it will even work for multiple domains pointing to the same forum. There are also other couple of bug fixes in this release.

As always, you can directly upgrade the forum from your backend or download and install the new version from https://codoforum.com

Found a bug related to Polls. Creating a poll works fine while creating a new topic. But if you create a topic and try to add a poll after, it fails! Not sure if it's an old issue or related to the latest update.

@admin for some reason I be missing the FreiChat panel at my CF installation and its also missing here at the community. Is there a server downtime or error?

Hi,

Gmail has made its SMTP authentication more strict. You will have to do two things:

Open security checkup : https://myaccount.google.com/u/1/security-checkup

There it will probably show a critical issue saying there was a recent sign in from a server (your server)
You need to say it was you and allow access.

Then you need to allow access from 3rd party apps by enabling this setting:
https://myaccount.google.com/u/1/lesssecureapps

If you have multiple gmail accounts, make sure you are doing above steps using the account that you have configured in codoforum.

Another thing you can try is change protocol to tls and port to 587

At the first attempt I received a mail from google saying that this is a less secure app and I need to create a app password for this action. I created one and its still not working but now i didn't receive email regarding this "less secure app". Then I changed from SMTP to mail() but its not working. :c

With CF version 4.8 we have now FreiChat as a Codoforum Facebook like Chat option at the bottom of the page and all users like it a lot.

I see there is a "send file" and "video chat" feature but I be missing a "audio or voice chat feature". Can You tell us please how to use or enable voice chat?

A few things

On mobile, my create a new topic button, the button is not wide
enough so the text is cut off and it just says "create a new p

also on mobile, the mobile scrolling has a width, that it is not supposed to
have. (scrolls little form left to right) it should be tight.

When I click on a category (on that page) no topics posted yet)), at the top
of those pages, The text that says "create a new topic" Can it say
"Create a post"

Is there a fix so that the message tones can be played without Flash?

I tested 10 and 11. For both, the browser shows me Flash as a required plugin.

The new chat window at the bottom right is awesome but it should sit on top of the "codo_topics_loadmore_div row" and also open chat conversation windows, because at the moment it is always hidden behind the topics loadmore row and users cant use the chat very good.

Hi, the main button on my website, at the top in the middle that says post a new topic. Can i change that text in that box? It is on home page, the main post a new topic button. Is it inside the css files? also The logo didnt work. I designed one and uploaded it, and the logo was so small you couldnt read it.

Need logo size lol? mine is like as small as a dot hahahaha.

What is the logo size? because i just am used to making the width larger and uploading logos in scripts.

You have already created a great modern platform with Codoforum. I think CF is not getting the attention it deserves.

Lately, it seems to me that you've lost a bit of interest and courage to bring the platform to a higher level. We do not see you in the forum that often anymore and also real new achievements are happen not that often anymore.

Please do not give up, Codoforum is great. Give the forum some updates such as:

• a slightly nicer post layout (especially for pictures Uplaods)
• colored roles for the names
• a day & night style feature (easy done by https://css-tricks.com/dark-modes-with-css/ and https://stuffandnonsense.co.uk/blog/redesigning-your-product-and-website-for-dark-mode)
• a override css option from admin backend
• more features with the user profiles such as a header image per profile and style adjustments regarding the new user fields in the backend (CF is used by game guilds and guilds love to have nice user profiles)
• the plugin and design marketplace, because if this is available, then maybe more developers come up with the idea to settle in the forum and the support does not just depend on you
• Please update the CF to PHP 7.3, there are still PHP error messages related to it

You made it so far and Codoforum could become a real alternative to forums systems like XenForo, WBB or MyBB.

I would be very happy if you find your drive again and would like to thank you for your efforts. CF and FC are outstanding and You guys are great!

Please note that when FreiChat PM system is enabled, you don't see any notifications when you receive a message.
We should have a little icon that pops-up on the message icon that notifies the user he has unread messages.

Hello there. As I was about to launch 2 projects powered by Codoforum, I faced a bug on the reply button not working on mobile view!

The reply simply won't work on mobile, but does works great on webview.

I thought it was something with my files, but I tried on this forum and it also failed!

This is the code that fails to load the reply:

If I try to post a new topic at my forums (latest CF, latest Opera, PHP7.2) I run into the following error message:

The each() function is deprecated. This message will be suppressed on further calls in sys/Ext/b8/b8.php line 231

First ein thought thats only a problem with PHP 7.2 and just a simple warning message, but also post will not be posted. If You click "post" it loads and loads and loads but nothing happens. If I renew the page, it says it is in draft, but if I visit the forums, the topic was created.

So something is wrong here and I hope that You can help me pls.
