500 error on trying to install

I have uploaded the files to my server using filezilla, I have checked permissions and marked most of them at 0755.

Every time I try and install as per your instructions (http://codologic.com/docs/doku.php?id=wiki:freichat:installation-guide) I get a 500 error

Can you please help me?

Yes sometimes 500 error occurs. Checked logfile of server found that, .htaccess contains follow symlinks which the server is disallowing. kindly remove that line from .htaccess and it will be fine.
