Hi,

I went through the installation video, step by step without any issues, copied the specified code into the specified template's index.php file, but nothing is showing up on my page, and there is no error log (i scoured the freichat folder looking for it).

Where might be a good place to start looking to get this working?

There is a variable $debug in ~/freichat/arg.php

Change the value to true , refresh your page , and you should find a file
named freix.log. Post the output here.

If you are unable to find the file , that would mean freichat does not have required
permissions to create the file, so give that folder the required permissions.

So i enabled debug mode, and when I did not any log file, I adjusted the permissions (via windows (vista) explorer ftp, right click) and still got nothing. Then i tried to access Http://url.com/friechat i got the following error

____________

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@firebytrickconcepts.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

When I undid the changes I made to the permissions, was able to access the freichat control panel again.

you must paste the code in your template's index.php file, did you paste the code in your template or the template shown in the video??

check the source code of your website to see whether FreiChatX code is being inlcuded??

Well turns out it was NOT updating the index.php file (guess i didnt notice the upload errors..?) anyway, got through that by renaming the index.php that was currently on the server, and reuploading my local copy with the required tags added. (i knew it had to be something uber simple like that)

The chat windows now shows up, but does not show any users are online. I tried modifying the backend option from showing "guests" to "users" but that didnt seem to make a difference. Not sure what else to try for this.

its time for some debugging....
open the chrome browser, right click -> inspect element -> console(Tab)
now load your website and list the errors that you notice in the console.

turns out, in my late night/early morning testing, i admit i wasn't very thoroughly testing it. Nobody else was showing up becuase nobody else was logged in (maybe i was expecting to see myself?) lol, anyway, further testing this morning shows that it is working beautifully.

Thank you again!
