search engine friendly url problem

Hi, i have changed the constant file to enable search engine friendly url by changing the 0 to 1. And i already had the access file on my server so i didn't do anything else. Am i right in thinking that it should be working properly already? All i've actually done is changed the 0 to a 1 and that's it.

Thanks for your help, Richard

Change s.htaccess to .htaccess inside your root folder of codoforum.

i tried it but it won't let me rename it to .htaccess

I then tried to rename it to htaccess in case the full stop was not suppose to be there. This renamed successfully but the pages still appear with a 404 error.

Any other ideas as to what i need to do?

Thanks
