After installing Freichat V.10 I'm getting Max Connection errors in MySQL and have to wait for an hour before it will let me re-connect to my website.

I looked over the forums for any solutions. One of which was to increase the 75k limit for connections but that's not an option on shared hosting plans unless you want to pay a lot of money. I also noticed that the requests for help were for older versions of Freichat. There was one comment about changing something with persistence in a new version but I'm on 10 as stated. Does anyone know of any work around that can keep this from happening?

Hello Adesh, thank you for replying to my post. I have switched to comet mode, and I have disabled some other extensions I really didn't need anymore. I also went into /mysite/freichat/hardcode.php and updated the $db_user to a different MySQL user in the same Database as my Joomla install but with all the same rights as the main Joomla user.

I will report back if the problem persists.

PS (I got the idea for using a different user from an old Joomla post that referred to these type of MySQL issues. I don't see how it can help alleviate the 75k query limit, but maybe having freichat use a different user might help. shrug)

It's been over a week now and I have not had any more issues with the max connections error. I was using an extension called 'Hitsteps' which tracks website traffic (trial period). I believe removing that and other extensions I was not using anymore cleared up the problem. Also the changes I made as I listed above may have helped as well. In any case, thanks for the help Adesh.
