@stephen2015 , did you resolve the chmod 666 issue? How do you upload file to the shared hosting? If you use ftp, just upload an empty sitemap.xml and set its chmod to 666 by the ftp client.

Sorry for late reply. There're a lot of spam on this forum so I don't visit it for a long time.

Thanks very much @nguoianphu I use ftp. Where will I upload the empty sitemap.XML file and also I installed codoforum on a sybdomain so it's a folder in my public HTML. Secondly. I don't know where I will go to setup the chmod 666. Also @nguoianphu I will love you to tell me how this your sitemap works. Does it ping Google anytime I make a new post. Because its take very long for Google to index my site www.peopleofgod.readupdates.com

@nguoianphu Here is my public html for my forum, i went then and i saw a sitemap.xml as you can see below, so i went to change the permission and i saw its permission is 6,4,4 I have changed it to 6 6 6 by ticking all the boxes in the "write" colum, but at my Forum Back end, it still shows me this

@nguoianphu another thing, i want to ask is, do i have to go to my backend and submit a sitemap each time i make a new post, or how does it work, because i can see on my sitemap file that it stores only, my topics and tags, but no picture names and my post contentssmilesmilesmile

I also notice i get this error when i want to look up my site map on my browser onlike Yours and Supra-Mk3

  • chmod 644 is ok. Don't worry about it because you can generate the site already.
  • We have to generate the sitemap manually. Everytime we create a new sitemap, it will ping google, bing,...
  • Sitemap stores links, not picture or post contents. Google will craw and index your website with the links in your sitemap.
  • The link http://peopleofgod.readupdates.com/tags/David & Goliath has the special symbol &. Just ignore it.

I think your sitemap is ok now. Just research the SEO to optimize your website SEO. smile

Thanks very much @nguoianphu i really appreciate you swift response, and i am sorry if am bordering you with so many question, i wish i can help my self. I read some where online about black hat seo. so my question is. do i have to go to my backend to generate a sitemap manually after i make a new post? or will the link to the post go automatically to my sitemap after a new post? my site is a forum site, if i have to generate sitemap manually every time someone comments or make a post, i might end up spamming google?

Don't worry about asking many questions! smile It's my pleasure to help others.

  • To be honest, I don't recomend the black hat SEO agains Google. Just do the SEO optimized tips by the Google webmaster tool.
  • I know that it's not cool to make the sitemap manually. But we just need to generate it daily or weekly. It's enough for SEO.

So, let register the Google Webmaster tool and follow their suggestions. smile

@nguoianphu thanks once again, so does your software generate it manually? i just want a software that will generate it manually and then i will submit to google myself, is that what your software does? or does it generate it and ping google at the same time. I just want a software that will help me to put my links in the site map as soon as i make a new update, without me going to the backend and generating a sitemap

Ok @nguoianphu thanks very much, is that not a black hat seo trick, is there a way i can make it so that it generates only the sitemap withohut pinging google, so that i allow google to come and crawl the sitemap by itself without forcing it to do so

@stephen2015 , don't worry! It's a clean/good SEO. smile
We need only to avoid ping our sitemap to Google no more than once per hour. We ussualy generate and ping the sitemap daily or weekly. smile

@stephen2015 , it's OK to ping Google every one 5 hours. But it's only necessary if your sitemap was changed.
Glad to help. smile
