I have followed the installation instructions and got no errors using the quick install but there is nothing on my homepage and got the following error in the parameters:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '{' in /home/userid/public_html/mysite.net/freichat/server/admin_files/home/index.php on line 1

Can anybody help?

your FTP client is the culprit! it is not detecting line breaks
upload the zip file, then unzip the file in the server itself

Thanks. That worked for the back end, I get to see the back administration. I have copied the two sections of code into the index.php of my default template, but nothing on the screen. Any ideas why this is not coming up?

I looked through your responses to a couple of other problems and tried this;

I changed the debug=true and checked the freixlog file and the error says it is not connecting to the database. I checked the settings in arg.php and I cannot see any errors in the database settings.

a lot of people are having similar problems, but i cannot guess what is going wrong.
i would like to personally fix this issue for you, this way i will come to know what is going wrong.
