Installed OK but now stuck

Hi folks,
I'm attempting to run this on a Redhat platform with Joomla 1.7 and CommunityBuilder 1.7

I've installed the component in the freichat directory as instructed and gone through the install routine with no apparent errors. The module for joomla/cb downloaded and installed OK.
Now, when I enter the admin interface all seems well, but when I click on chatrooms with the notion of creating one, I just get :

Chatroom Plugin

1.

I can't enter any text by the 1.

In Joomla, when I activate the module, I get a blank screen.

Any help gratefully accepted :-)

What do you mean by installed the component , there is no component to be
installed . You only have to copy-paste the folder in the Joomla directory

In Joomla, when I activate the module, I get a blank screen.
If you are getting a blank screen , why don't you try installing it manually
by copy pasting the template code.

Sorry, I wasn't clear. Yes, I uploaded the zip to the server, unzipped it into the required directory and used the web interface to configure the server.
When I activate the plugin in Joomla then I get a little window bottom screen saying nobody logged-in (which is accurate since the site is in development). The thing that I don't understand is how to create the chat-room. I thought it would be via the admin back-end (clcking on 'chatrooms' from the left menu) but that doesn't give me an option to do anything, just brings up 1. <blank></blank>

Sorry , but i am unable to understand what do you mean by chatroom ,
since FreiChatX does not support chatroom feature yet in v6.1
[Are you talking about chatwindows here ?]

I think giving a screenshot would make things much more clear
