How do you clear past discussion from dialogue box?

there is a trash can icon available in the chat window, just click on it and all you chat history is cleared.

i noticed, old messages are not deleted after the time selected in back end. Additionally, the "received-flag" of all messages is '0', regardless if they are received or not.
