Dark Theme for Codoforum
dark theme style design codoforum

Hallo Community


because there is no dark theme (style) for Codoforum I created one for myself and I share the result now with the Codo community.


I am not a professional webdesign artist or developer. It is one of my hobbies and even if I love webdesign and already created a lot of projects, I`m sure the theme is far from perfect but it is ready to use.

here is a first update:

  • theme is now working with "Similar Topics" plugin
  • and with "Thanicos Userlist" plugin

I also created a GitHub repository for the theme. You can find it here:

I updated the theme to latest Codoforum version. I also styled some of the Codoforum plugins like the "ThaNico's userlist" and "Similar Topics".

@pupsik ya you are right - something like a Day/Night Mode smile

I will not integrate it into the Codarko theme, but if Codoforum 5.0 is out I will do exactly this and integrate a real Day/Night Mode for the brand new CF version.

I was already thinking about some nice Day/Night solutions and I even created a small CSS snippet of one of the scopes here at the forums.

If this is possible, will there ever be a Dark Theme added for the Admin Panel? This looks amazing and I am happy even with a simple no if it is not possible.

@TodAufDerFlutch Hmm to be honest I never thought about it, but I think its a nice idea. I can not promise to do it the next couple of days but I will start working on it and try to finish it within 14 days smile

My reversion to a dark admin panel will take more time I think because I be waiting for Codoforum 5.0

But there is already a slitly darker style integrated (dark admin sidebar) by default.
All you have to do is:

  • open the file: admin/layout/templates/layout.tpl
  • scroll to line 52
  • replace line 52 with:
<body class="s kin-black">
  • no gap between the s and the k - I could not write it together because the word S K IN in the forum must not be written (spam protection)
  • save and recache and your admin section should have a nice dark sidebar now ;)

Attention: Because thats not a real override and is changing the Codo templates you have to repeat that after every update of your Codo installation.

I have to ask the Codo team first how we can edit and override the admin section of CF like with the frontend - at the moment is as far as I know no such feature to override integrated. I think its only possible if one is writing a module to handle the job but I can be wrong. I have to ask them smile

I too my friend waiting for 5.0. no sence of doing any mods or styles really, until all the bugs that was mentioned, has been fixed.

The following files are missing, try to upload them again with your FTP tool:

That should fix your problem smile

Hmm thats crazy it should work -

David with missing images it is often the case that people are using Browser AdsBlocker - would you be so kind and kill the Browser AdsBlocker Extension on your domain. After it press STRG and F5 together on your keyboard or CTRL and F5 and tell me if it is working now.

Another issue could be that the two images got destroyd for some reason. I will upload em here for you and you can try to replace your images with it.

Also make sure you upload all the files with your FTP program in "automatic mode" (you can find it in its settings)

At @admin tell me, do you have any further ideas as to what it may be that the two pictures are not get displayed even though they are on the server? My level of knowledge is at the end. They crazy thging is the two images are on the server and also the browser dev tools does show him at source, but if you click on them they will not be shown. So for my opinion I think they got destroyed by a false FTP upload / transfair. What do you think?
