Better way to Upgrade!

Hi, I am a wordpress developer. The only suggestion I can give regarding this forum is to introduce a more fluent way to upgrade from one version to another. The current way of importing database is not a reliable one. it would be really good if you can provide some alternate ways to update the software, considering the fact that you guys are releasing updates every 15-20 days.

Right now am using 2.3 version. My client needed a simple forum, so I will not be updating the version for a long time. So after 1 year if my client have to upgrade, then importing the whole database to another database is least easy method for him.

Hope you introduce better upgrade methods in the next releases. smile

I agree with what you have to say.
we have recieved a few mails regarding the same.

we are working on a "one click upgrader" similar to one that you have on wordpress currently, but the code changes are so huge that maintaining the upgrader to keep up with the new changes has become very difficult.

that is the very reason why we don't have plugins and themes section in our website, because it becomes impossible to maintain them as there are huge changes in the API every 15-20 days.
we expect the core code base and the API to be stable by v.3.0

we will be releasing 3.0 in 2-3 months time, which will include a "one click upgrade button".

@avinash Hmm I was thinking, suppose I do not upgrade the current version (2.3) for about 4 months. By then I think version 3.0 of Codoforum will be released, so will I be able to directly upgrade from 2.3 to 3.0 through this database import or any other method?
I am asking this because I do not intend on changing my preference for using Codoforum anytime soon, it is a lean forum as compared other hefty alternatives. ^_^

yes you will be able to use the "database import" method to upgrade directly from 2.3 to 3.0.

you are right it works even on a 64 MB VPS smile
