I have searched the forum for an answer to my problem but I find none. Sorry if it has been covered before and I have missed it. If so, please let me know which thread to look at.

I installed FrieChat on my forum. Forum is an SMF program. I liked the FrieChat program and everything in the install went smoothly. However, I noticed right away that members who were logged into the forum in "anonymous" mode appeared in the online list on Friechat. That defeats the purpose of them signing into the forum as anonymous. I could find no setting to fix this to maintain the privacy of my members, I un-installed FrieChat. I would really like to use this program on my forum. Any solutions?

Sorry, but we have not heard about logging in as "anonymous" in SMF .
Does it require a mod ? because there is no such option in our SMF installation .

Thanks for the reply. In SMF forums in the member Profile section, Account settings, members can choose "Show others my online status" or not. They check a box on that line if they wish to be seen by others (admin and mods can still see them). They un-check the box if they wish to NOT be seen by others. In the "Who's online" field on the main page, they will appear or not, depending on if they checked the box. The forum stats shows the member online numbers something like this: 53 Guests, 30 Users (5 Hidden). So, perhaps "hidden" is a better word than anonymous.

No, I don't believe a mod is involved. Part of the basic program, I think.

Please try this :

Open freichat/server/drivers/SMF2.php

Now, you need to edit the queries in get_guests() and get_users() as below:

Replace

AND m.id_member = f.session_id";

with

AND m.show_online=1    
AND m.id_member = f.session_id";
